Pies are a Thanksgiving Favorite
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Sometimes it gets passed over jammed between my two more favorite holidays, Halloween and Christmas. Of course, I love being with family, along with cooking and baking in the kitchen together. However, my most favorite part of Thanksgiving is the pies! Yes, give me all the pies!
Thanksgiving Hack, Shortcut, Semi-Homemade Pie Recipe
Thanksgiving can already be cumbersome enough with the huge menu of appetizers, turkey, side dishes, and guests. Add to that food allergies, and navigating one of the busiest times of year and it is high stress!

Top 9 Allergy Friendly, Gluten Free, Vegan, Nut Free Banana Cream Pie Recipe
Help yourself out and make it a win-win! I’ve got a top 9 free banana cream pie that will not only serve to be helpful in that it is allergy friendly, but it will also knock your socks off. It may just even knock the socks off all your family and friends, if you’re lucky!
Jell-O Banana Cream Pudding Vegan, Dairy, Gluten and Nut Free Allergy Friendly
Now let me preface by disclaiming that yes, Jell-O is junk food and there is nothing remotely healthy about it. However, for food allergy safety and label reading purposes, it is in fact vegan, dairy, gluten and nut free. It is in fact, top 9 free. A fun ingredient to add to recipes and use to make allergy friendly dishes such as this one.
Don’t Make Perfect the Evil of Good
From a Holistic Nutritionist standpoint, it is processed junk, yes. However, as you follow along with me you will become acquainted with me, I often say, “Don’t make evil the perfect of good, and stick by the 90/10 rule”. While I try to eat 90% of the time, whole plant based healthy foods, I also allow for 10% junk and fun. When you live a life with food allergies, sometimes mentally, emotionally, that 10% is a wonderful thing for the soul. If you know, you know!
6 Ingredient Homemade Banana Cream Pie with Allergy Friendly Options
All you need is just 6 ingredients plus homemade whipped cream, Cool Whip (contains dairy), or So Delicious allergy friendly CoCoWhip (coconut whipped topping).
Other than that it is: Jell-O Banana Cream Pie & Pudding mix, milk or dairy alternative except SOY (soy will ruin it and not allow pudding to come together), whipped cream, bananas, lemon juice, and a pie crust.
When it comes to a dairy alternative, soy milk will not do, it even states this on the Jell-O box. I tested this recipe in my test kitchen using almond milk and it turned out great!
Whipped Cream Options, Dairy Free, Vegan, Allergy Friendly Store Bought and Homemade
Store Bought Cool Whip or So Delicious CoCo Whip
Now there are a few options for the whipped cream. This is a bit of a twist on a popular old fashioned recipe that many use Cool Whip for. You can use that if it works for your allergies, and you will use the same amounts called for in printable recipe below. Just take the Cool Whip out to thaw for 4 hours prior to making your pie. Cool Whip does contain dairy of the Top 9.
One other option if available in a store near you, is the brand So Delicious. They offer a Cool Whip substitute, CoCo Whip, that is made using coconut, and is vegan and dairy free.

Traditional Homemade Whipped Cream
Alternately, you can make your own whipped cream, which in my opinion is not only healthier without all the extra additives etc., but it tastes better too! Plus, if you are dairy free, you can opt for my coconut whipped cream. If you are able to have dairy, the best ever whipped cream is a great choice.

Vegan, Soy, Nut Free Whipped Cream
2 15 ounce can coconut milk, chilled in refrigerator overnight, drained of excess liquid and only use solidified coconut milk scooped out. Just adding powdered sugar and vanilla, and voila, yummy homemade whipped topping!
I have shared this yummy vegan whipped topping before and used it as a cupcake frosting in my Spice Cake Cupcakes and Vegan Frosting.

Holiday Cooking and Baking Hack
I always try to make several of my recipes or prep them, the day prior. Pies, minus the garnish, will be made the day prior, and then I garnish them upon serving so that the topping doesn’t melt and become runny (whipped cream), and everything looks its best.
We also make the traditional sweet potato casserole and green beans. Both of those dishes I make them minus the baking and final topping, cover with tinfoil, and place in the refrigerator. That way the day of I just have to pop them in the oven, and add the final fried onions or traditional marshmallows.
