Egg Roll in a Bowl

No Dining Out at Asian Restaurants for Our Family

As I’ve mentioned before, we have a hard and fast rule in our house – no asian restaurants for us due to peanut and shellfish allergy. Those two allergens are so prevalent in dishes for those types of cuisine that we just feel its playing with fire in our situation.

We Do Love Asian Food Though!

So that said, we do love asian food! So I try to make it as much as possible for my family, so that my son can experience it safely at home.

Top 8 Free Egg Roll in a Bowl

Recently I shared our fortune cookie recipe, and that inspired me to share some other recipes that could be made as a meal, or enjoyed separately. My husband is gluten-free, and while all the ingredients in this recipe are top 8 free (with the exception of the soy sauce), we did have to get a gluten free soy sauce, and found ours on Amazon. It’s Kikkoman Gluten Free Soy Sauce. Another brand that’s gluten-free is San-J Organic Soy Sauce that you can also find on Amazon.

To keep this top 8 free, if you have a soy allergy you can substitute with Coconut Secret Organic Aminos, which only includes coconut tree sap and sea salt in their ingredients. You can find this on Amazon Prime as well. For those new to food allergies and unsure about what is meant by top 8 free – There are 8 allergens that account for roughly 90% of all allergies: peanut, tree nut, dairy, wheat, soy, egg, fish, shellfish.

Mix it Up and Make it Safe For Your Needs

What I love about this recipe is that it’s pretty healthy, easily made top 8 free, and it’s very forgiving. I do use sesame seed oil in my recipe, but you could not include it if you have a sesame allergy and quite frankly it won’t affect the outcome really much at all. You can play with this recipe and make it yours. Again, it’s very forgiving and really just tastes great with simple seasonings.

Easy Peasy & Great for Meal Prep or Big Families

We like to eat ours with fried rice. One of my other favorite things about this meal is that it’s essentially a one pot meal, quick, easy, healthy, and the leftovers reheat well and taste delicious!
