Bug Spray Just 4 Ingredients

Allergic to Mosquito Bites

We go camping. A. Lot! All 3 of my girls are super allergic to mosquito bites. The mosquitos just love my girls and their bites turn into giant huge welts. Like CRAZY giant huge and scary looking!

Tried All the Store Bought Bug Sprays

I have tried nearly EVERY bug spray out on the market. Cheap ones, organic ones, expensive ones. All of them. All. Of. Them!

Homemade is Best

The only one that has ever worked, and I’m talking like 99.9% y’all, is a homemade recipe for bug spray that uses just 4 ingredients!

Doterra Essential Oils

I personally use Doterra oils. I am not a distributor, in fact distributors probably can’t stand people like me because I buy mine off Amazon, whatev’s. You do you though boo… and use whatever essential oils you love! You will use Lemongrass (I used this Doterra brand from Amazon), and you will also use Eucalyptus (I used this Doterra brand from Amazon).

Witch Hazel & Water

I also buy the third ingredient off Amazon as well, Thayer’s brand Witch Hazel. The fourth ingredient is free, agua AKA water! I do use filtered water, but you could probably be just fine using tap water if need be.

Did I Mention It Smells AMAZING!

It smells amazing if you love oils, and it works seriously so well guys! Like I previously mentioned, we had tried nearly every other bug spray on the market before making our own.

Cobalt Blue Glass Essential Oil Spray Bottles

I bought my spray bottles off of Amazon. They come in a 6-pack of Cobalt Blue, 4oz glass bottles with a black fine mist sprayer. They are amazing, good quality and I just love them for using with my essential oil mixtures.

Homemade Bug Spray

5 drops eucalyptus essential oil

5 drops lemongrass essential oil

1/4 C witch hazel

1/4 C water

You can easily double, triple or even quadruple this recipe for larger batches based on the size bottle you are using for your final product/bug spray mix. The recipe listed here makes 1/2 C, which should fit in a 4oz size bottle (8oz in a cup). I just put in my water, add my witch hazel, and then add the drops of eucalyptus and lemongrass. Then I twist on the lid, and give it a good shake. It lasts about 4-6 months.
