Homemade Snow

Do you live somewhere that doesn’t receive snowfall? Looking for some fun, quick, easy DIY hands-on activities for your little ones? Maybe looking for a project to go along with a unit study on the letter Ss, the weather, or the seasons?

This two ingredient Homemade Snow has got you covered! We live in the desert Southwest, and used to live in the snowy White Mountains of Arizona. My kids have been missing the snow.

While we haven’t had a chance to visit the snow, play in it, make snow angels, build a snowman, or throw a snowball- we were able to have hours of fun with our Homemade Snow!

Just two ingredients is all you need! You just need baking soda and white allergy friendly hair conditioner. Because I was making 3 batches for my kids to each have their own bath of snow, I bought a 3.5 bag of baking soda. I went with a big 39oz container if Tresemmé conditioner.

Whatever brands you end up choosing be sure to read the ingredients to avoid your allergens. Additionally, I used disposable aluminum baking pans and the plastic lids they come with, as the containers to make, hold and play with their snow.

It’s literally as easy as measuring out the ingredients, mixing with your hands, and playing to hit hearts content!
