Gluten Free Peanut Free Nutella Cookies

Allergic to Peanuts, BUT Not to Any Other Nuts

For the longest time we avoided Nutella due to my son having a peanut allergy (he’s also anaphylactic to shellfish). We were advised by our allergist to avoid all tree nuts unless we could confirm that they were not at risk for cross-contamination.

Blue Diamond Almonds

We had come across Blue Diamond brand almonds that are all labeled as peanut free. Which was huge because it opened the door to something else we could add to his safe list.

Nutella | Peanut Free

Recently, I had seen someone mention that Nutella was peanut free. I couldn’t believe it. So I began searching their website for confirmation. Sure enough! They are peanut free!!

Nutella | Gluten Free

Since my husband was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and related gluten intolerance, we were also hoping it would be gluten-free, and it is my friends.

See the quoted information from their site as linked above:

1. Is Nutella® hazelnut spread peanut free and made in a peanut free facility?

Nutella® hazelnut spread does not contain peanuts or peanut ingredients. There is no risk of cross contamination with peanuts in the facility in which Nutella® is manufactured.

2. Is Nutella® hazelnut spread gluten free?

Nutella® hazelnut spread does not contain any ingredients derived from gluten-containing cereals: wheat, barley, rye, oats or triticale. There is also no risk of cross contamination with any gluten ingredients.

Introducing … Nutella!

So we introduced our son, and the rest of our children to Nutella. It was one of the most joyous food experiences for us as a family, in a very long time! It’s not often we all get to eat something that’s not only safe for everyone (my husband is also gluten intolerant), but that is a fun, rich, popular treat!

Nutella in the Morning, and in the Afternoon, I Love You in the Evening, Underneath the Moon…

We ate it by the spoonful, on toast, and with SunButter and Mallow Creme. But, this was not enough, oh no… this was not enough!

So I set out on a journey to find a way to give us Nutella cookies that were free of all our families allergens and intolerances. Free from gluten, peanuts and shellfish.

BEST Gluten Free Cookie Recipe EVER

So that is what my husband said, “best gluten-free cookie I have EVER had”! Enter this amazing recipe which is the perfect size, but can easily be doubled for a bigger batch. What I love is that not only is this safe for us, but it’s simple with few ingredients and it’s CHEWY AND FUDGY! I’m not a huge crispy cookie girl. I like mine on the doughy side – yum!

Make it With Traditional All-Purpose Flour Too!

This recipe could easily be made with traditional all-purpose flour as the gluten-free blend I use is measure-for-measure. So feel free to sub traditional all-purpose flour if you don’t need to avoid wheat or gluten.
