Food Allergy Friendly Disney

Disneyland Top 8 Free Finds | Lollipops, Cotton Candy & Frozen Treats

So while we deal with a gluten intolerance for my husband and peanut & shellfish anaphylactic allergy for my son, I do post a variety of items that could be friendly for all combinations of allergic situations. As anyone with food allergies knows, there is no one-size-fits-all, and what may be deadly for one person, may be a go-to safe food for another. The crazy world of allergies!

In this post I am focusing on several Top 8 Free items (wheat, egg, soy, dairy, peanut, tree nuts, fin fish and shellfish) throughout Disneyland Resort Hotels, Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Parks. The following is not completely comprehensive as Disney is constantly coming out with holiday specific foods, special event foods (think Pixar Pier) and changing their menu’s frequently.

This is a round up of some great finds that can typically be found there year-round even through the seasonal food changes, and it’s pretty much all “junk food” this time around on the blog. I will cover meals and other options dedicated to Top 8 in upcoming posts as part of this series.

Candy, Candy, Candy!

So let’s talk candy! These are just a few of the locations that you can find top 8 free lollipops.

Downtown Disney & Hotels

World of Disney in Downtown Disney (typically near cash registers)

Acorn’s Gifts & Goods (Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Lower Level)

Small World Gifts & Sundries (Disneyland Resort Hotel Gift Shop, Lower Level Main Lobby)

Disney California Adventure

Toy Story Midway Mania Gift Shop (when exiting ride downstairs)

Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff (just across from the drinks, mixed in with all the pre-packaged treats)

Elias & Co. (in various spots throughout store, often times near cash register)

Select food carts throughout the park

Disneyland Park

The Emporium on Main Street

Tomorrowland Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters Gift Shop (end of ride exit)

Star Tours Gift Shop (end of ride exit)

It’s a Small World Gift Shop (end of ride exit)

Adventureland Bazaar Gift Shop (just past the Tiki Lounge)

Pooh Corner Gift Shop (end of ride exit)

Select food carts throughout the park

Cotton Candy!

A note on the cotton candy, there are 3 different vendors I’ve seen them come from. One is pre-packaged in a plastic container with lid and labeling. The second is in a plastic bag and labeled. The third is in a plastic bag with no label, and that is usually seen at holiday time in a holiday type bag e.g. Halloween with spiders on bag.

Now where to find the cotton candy? For the most part it is on food carts throughout both parks, if you are looking for the big servings in the plastic bags. Some of those locations include:

between the Matterhorn and Galactic Grill,

outside The Little Mermaid Ariel’s Adventure,

and outside the Haunted Mansion.

However, if you are looking for the pre-packaged plastic closable containers, those can be found in:

Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff (DCA),

Pooh Corner (Disneyland),

and Marceline’s Confectionary in Downtown Disney, just to name a few.

Frozen Treats

Adorable Snowman

With the opening of the Adorable Snowman in Disney California Adventure, there is a whole new world of possibilities! So excited about that addition!!! For this particular post we are just talking top 8 free, so you would want to skip the cone, and just order the cup option. The “It’s Lemon” and the Pixar Pier Frosty Parfait are both top 8 free. If you are able to have dairy, you can get the “It’s Snow-Capped Lemon” in a cup. Also, if you are able to have wheat, you can get the cone for the “It’s Lemon!” and the “It’s Snow-Capped Lemon!”. Find these frosted treats on the Pixar Pier bridge between Knicks Knacks and the Incredicoaster.

Frozen Lemonade

So, typically you can find the Coca Cola company Soft Frozen Minute Maid in Original Lemon and Lemonade Strawberry. This is all over both parks on the frozen food carts as well as in some gift shops such as:

Acorns Gifts & Goods (Grand Californian),

Small World Gifts & Sundries (Disneyland Hotel),

and even in Downtown Disney at Marceline’s Confectionary.

Nestle’s Fruit Bars

There’s also Nestle’s brand Strawberry Fruit Bar, which is top 8 free. Find them:

at several gift shops in Disneyland Resort Hotels including the Grand Californian and The Disneyland Hotel,

Marceline’s Confectionary in Downtown Disney,

and in frozen treat carts around both parks.

Mickey Shaped Jello

There is one other “cool” treat that I have seen in only one location, but “knock on wood”, it’s always been reliably available no matter what time of year. If you go to the White Water Snacks fast food restaurant (bottom floor near the pool and spa area of the Grand Californian), you will find they have a small fridge with Mickey Shaped strawberry Jello! You can optionally add whipped cream to this if that is something safe for you. And I mean, hello… Mickey shaped anything is so fun friends, am I right?! Also, if you are not a guest staying at the hotel, you can still pop into White Water snacks for a bite to eat!
