Garlic Free Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 C water
  • 1/2 C packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 C low sodium soy sauce may sub coconut aminos
  • 2 T honey
  • 2 T cornstarch
  • 1/4 C water

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup water, brown sugar, soy sauce and honey in a medium sized pot, bringing to a light boil over medium high heat, stirring frequently.

    Whisk together the cornstarch in 1/4 cup water, and stir that into the boiling brown sugar mixture.

    Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until coats the back of a spoon.

    Use as desired for grilled, cooked or baked teriyaki chicken, as well as over jasmine or other favorite rice.
