Bahama Bucks Shaved Ice

Ice Cream with a Peanut Allergy is Tough

Ice cream is really hard for us even though we don’t have a dairy allergy. My son is allergic to peanuts and shellfish. The shellfish part isn’t what gets us when it comes to ice cream. It’s the peanuts. There is SO much cross-contamination. We definitely don’t even dare go to Dairy Queen. Out of the question. I personally wouldn’t trust it with a ten foot pole. We do let our son get pretzels and other foods from Sonic, but we don’t dare let him chance any of their frozen treats.

We Like Cool Treats & We Cannot Lie!

So dilemma number 2, we live in the Arizona desert and temps reach 120 in the summer. It’s hot hot hot y’all! We buy TONS of safe ice cream and popsicles, and stock up our freezer, but it really is just fun to GO somewhere and order a treat! The experience is fun, in addition to the treat. It stays pretty hot through October, but seriously there’s never a bad time for a treat, even the middle of winter!

Bahama Bucks Snow Cones Are Allergy Friendly

Enter… Bahama Bucks! There’s around 100 locations in several states including Arizona. We are so lucky that there is literally one within bike riding/walking distance, although in the summer, Arizonan’s will tell you – we drive to the mailbox haha!!!! For real though, the struggle is real – 120. Degrees. Burning. Hot!

Peanut Allergy Friendly and Top 8 Friendly

They do not even have anything with peanuts! Score!!! They do have one chocolate sauce with tree nut, and a smoothie that also has tree nut. Check out their allergen guide here for all the deets on each product and allergen.  If you would like to stay Top 8 Free, just stick with the plain syrups and shaved ice and you’ll be golden!

My favorite is to get a Bahama Rama Mama, which gives you a scoop of Blue Bell Ice Cream on the bottom (vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate), and you can also ask them to drizzle vanilla or chocolate cream sauce, sprinkles and other things on top of your snow cone. It’s so much fun you guys! Plus, it’s refreshing, and ALLERGY FRIENDLY!

More Than a Friendly Treat, A Fun Place to Hang Out

If you want to stay and hang out in their amazing air conditioning, the ambiance is all that and more. They have a fun beach, surf theme with surf boards hanging on the walls. There’s also a game area that you can take out and bring to your table to play e.g. Connect Four, Jenga and other fun games. They have it down to every detail including the cute little island umbrella’s that they stick on top of each cone. I just love everything about it.
